A Message to Our Customers

Wednesday 24th June 2026

We are aware of several promotional videos being shared online by a direct competitor showcasing Nutrition Geeks products and claiming that they have independently tested our range of supplements, with claims that selected products are under-dosed.

The videos have given many viewers the false impression that our wider supplement range is under-dosed, not properly tested, or contains little to no active ingredients.

This impression is completely false & we have the evidence to prove it.

Of all the allegations made, the most serious & the one that we immediately want to respond to is that our Ashwagandha Calm+ contained less than 1% Withanolides (the main active ingredient in Ashwagandha).

We have received fresh independent third-party testing of the exact same batch 14831 (our BRC accredited manufacturer stores samples of every batch sold) which categorically proves that the Withanolides content is 12.5mg or above (100%+) of what’s stated on our label. You can find the test result 👉 linked here.

Before we dive any deeper on the allegations, we want customers to understand the context. These videos have been created by a direct competitor while promoting their own supplement range. We support transparency and independent testing, but any claims made in that setting should be considered carefully and judged on the full scientific evidence, not just headline statements made in promotional videos.

We believe that the videos are a marketing strategy to reduce trust in other brands in order to lift themselves up. A strategy which is not a true commitment to transparency as portrayed in the videos.

And finally, we want to reiterate something important:

Nutrition Geeks has always been, and will always be, committed to putting customers first.

That has been a founding principle of the business, and it influences every decision we make. It is not just a theory; from free express delivery on all orders with no threshold or keeping prices locked for 5+ years, even with inflation & increases in consumer goods prices.

Putting customers’ interests first has always been something we champion and that’s why these allegations are so frustrating; they strike at the very principle the business was built on.

Our Response To The Allegations Made

Within the video, multiple products are referenced and despite multiple results showing at 100% of label claim or above, the overall narrative promoted in the videos has led customers to believe that the whole range has little to no active ingredients, which is not the case.

We consulted industry experts who believe that inappropriate testing methods were used in one of the videos for two products. It is our belief that our Milk Thistle and Ashwagandha were never given a fair test, because the wrong methods were applied to ingredients that demand specialist testing approaches.

Ashwagandha Calm+ and KSM-66®

Our Ashwagandha Calm+ is formulated using genuine KSM-66® Ashwagandha, a premium, branded, root-only extract used globally by leading supplement brands and trusted by other leading retailers such as Holland & Barrett and Boots.

To be clear, KSM-66® is considered the gold standard in ashwagandha, which is why we were so shocked by any claim that it was under-dosed, when the raw material is among the most rigorously tested in the industry.

Industry experts have advised that the withanolides in KSM-66® require a specific biomarker testing approach. A generic ashwagandha test will not pick them up properly, so the true content will be understated.

The manufacturers of KSM-66® have since issued an official statement confirming the USP testing methodology (the same methodology used in the video) is not a valid method for testing KSM-66® Withanolides. Their statement is  👉 linked here.

As mentioned earlier in the statement, an independent third-party lab retested the exact same batch used in the video using an appropriate biomarker method, and that test showed our product contains over 100% of the withanolides stated on the label. We also tested five other separate batches, and they all came back at 100%+ of the product label specification.

This also ties into our new initiative for third-party testing across the range which will be rolling out across the website in the coming days. More on that later in the statement.

Milk Thistle 3-in-1

Milk thistle is another ingredient where the testing method makes a real difference to the result. The active compounds in milk thistle are a group called silymarin, and there is more than one way to measure them. Most milk thistle raw materials, including ours, are made and sold on the basis of a method called UV. The video used a different method called UPLC.

This matters because the two methods do not produce the same number for the same product. UV measures the silymarin complex more broadly, while UPLC counts only certain individual compounds within it. As a result, a UPLC figure will always come out lower than a UV figure, even when exactly the right amount of extract has been used and the product has been made correctly to specification. Comparing a UPLC result against a UV-based specification is not a like-for-like comparison.

Our Milk Thistle 3-in-1 is formulated using 50 mg of milk thistle extract standardised to 80% silymarin by UV, which gives 40 mg of silymarin per tablet, or 80 mg per two-tablet serving.

We have received confirmation from the third-party lab (Tuesday 23rd June) that the tests for our milk thistle tablets passed and were 106% of the label claim amount. The certification arrived on 25th June 2026. You can find the test result 👉 linked here.

Independent Third-Party Test Results Roll Out

Scientific testing data can be difficult to understand, and we don’t want you to have to get a calculator every time you want to double check our third-party testing.

That’s why we have been working for the last couple months on a project to display all of our third-party test results in a clear and easy-to-understand format, live linked to the products on our website from verified and certified independent testing laboratories.

These tests will cover active ingredient testing which measures how much of the active ingredient is in the product & confirms the product is free from harmful levels of heavy metals and microbiological contaminants.

In light of the recent videos, our team has been working around the clock to fast-track this feature and make it available on demand via the website for customers very soon.

Wrapping up

Overall, our belief has always been simple: if we provide products that work, world-class service and accessible prices, customers will come back, and they will tell their friends and family.

We strongly advise customers to be mindful when watching content online and to consider whether there may be a commercial motive behind it. We also ask customers to consider their own experience, and the experiences of millions of others who have felt and reported real benefits from our products.

Our customers matter to us, and the thought that any of you have felt misled by products we put our name to is something we take deeply personally.

We hope the evidence speaks for itself. But more than that, we hope you know that the people behind Nutrition Geeks genuinely care. That has always been true, and it always will be.

Thank you for giving us the chance to set the record straight.
