American Style Pancakes

American Style Pancake

Ingredients:

150g self-raising flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 2 tbsp caster sugar, a pinch of salt, 1 egg, 150ml whole milk, 1 tbsp melted butter. Toppings (optional): Maple syrup, whipped cream, fresh fruit etc.

Method:

1) Sift the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into a large bowl. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk and melted butter. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and gradually pour in the wet ingredients, whisking until you have a smooth batter.

2) Heat a little oil or butter in a frying pan over a medium heat until hot. Drop in tablespoons of batter to make small pancakes and cook for about 2 minutes until bubbles start to form on the surface. Flip over with a spatula and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Repeat until all the batter is used up.

3) Serve with your choice of toppings. we love maple syrup, whipped cream and fresh fruit!


Banana and Honey Pancakes

Banana and honey Pancake

Ingredients:

115g self-raising flour, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 2 tbsp caster sugar, a pinch of salt, 1 egg, 115ml whole milk, 1 tbsp melted butter, 1 banana. Toppings (optional): Maple syrup, honey, whipped cream etc.

Method:

1) Sift the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into a large bowl. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk and melted butter. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and gradually pour in the wet ingredients, whisking until you have a smooth batter.

Bacon and Egg Pancakes


Ingredients:


115g self-raising flour, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 2 tbsp caster sugar, a pinch of salt, 1 egg, 115ml whole milk, 1 tbsp melted butter, 2 rashers of bacon, 1 egg. Toppings (optional): Maple syrup, ketchup, HP sauce etc.


Method:


1) Sift the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into a large bowl. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk and melted butter. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and gradually pour in the wet ingredients, whisking until you have a smooth batter.


2) Cut the bacon into small pieces and fry until crisp. Drain on paper towel and set aside.


3) Whisk the egg in a bowl and add to the pancake batter. Stir in the bacon bits.


4) Heat a little oil or butter in a frying pan over a medium heat until hot. Drop in tablespoons of batter to make small pancakes and cook for about 2 minutes until bubbles start to form on the surface. Flip over with a spatula and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Repeat until all the batter is used up.


5) Serve with your choice of toppings. We love ketchup and HP sauce with our bacon and egg pancakes!

Mushroom and Cheese Pancakes

Ingredients:

115g self-raising flour, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 2 tbsp caster sugar, a pinch of salt, 1 egg, 115ml whole milk, 1 tbsp melted butter, 50g grated cheese, a handful of mushrooms, salt and pepper. Toppings (optional): Maple syrup, mustard, ketchup etc.

Method:

1) Sift the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into a large bowl. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk and melted butter. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and gradually pour in the wet ingredients, whisking until you have a smooth batter.

2) Roughly chop the mushrooms and add to the pancake batter. Mix in the grated cheese.

3) Heat a little oil or butter in a frying pan over a medium heat until hot. Drop in tablespoons of batter to make small pancakes and cook for about 2 minutes until bubbles start to form on the surface. Flip over with a spatula and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Repeat until all the batter is used up.

4) Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with your choice of toppings. we love mustard and ketchup with our mushroom and cheese pancakes!

Crushed Candy Pancakes

This recipe is more for the kids who have a sweet tooth! But beware for the sugar rush they're about to endure.

115g self-raising flour, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 2 tbsp caster sugar, a pinch of salt, 1 egg, 115ml whole milk, 1 tbsp melted butter. Toppings (optional): Sprinkles, crushed candy etc.

Method:

1) Sift the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into a large bowl. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk and melted butter. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and gradually pour in the wet ingredients, whisking until you have a smooth batter.

2) Pour some sprinkles and crushed candy into a shallow dish. Heat a little oil or butter in a frying pan over a medium heat until hot. Drop in tablespoons of batter to make small pancakes and cook for about 2 minutes until bubbles start to form on the surface. Flip over with a spatula and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Repeat until all the batter is used up.

3) Serve with your choice of toppings. We love crushed candy with our crushed candy pancakes!
