I started taking 1 a day, in the morning with breakfast and noticed my energy levels were lower than normal. I then switched to taking 1 just before bed and my sleep quality improved greatly. I now take 2 at bedtime and sleep like a log. Suggest you try both timings to see which suits best, I'm sure it will make a difference to your performance or sleep
